Our Story

Periwinkle-birch began when founder Eleanor Whitmore noticed a troubling pattern among her financial advisory clients. Intelligent, successful people consistently struggled with basic money management concepts that schools and universities never taught them.

She started with weekend workshops in a borrowed community hall. Word spread quickly. Within two years, demand outgrew the space, leading to our permanent home on Castle Street in Liverpool city centre.

Today, our team of six instructors delivers comprehensive financial education to over 400 students annually, from curious ten-year-olds learning to budget their pocket money to business owners mastering corporate finance.

What Guides Us

Principles that shape every course and interaction

Clarity Over Complexity

Financial jargon creates barriers. We translate complicated concepts into plain language without dumbing down the content. Understanding should feel natural, not overwhelming.

Practice Over Theory

Reading about budgeting differs from creating one. Every session includes hands-on activities with real numbers and genuine scenarios. You leave with skills you can use tomorrow.

Inclusive Learning

Financial literacy should not depend on your starting point. We welcome complete beginners alongside experienced professionals. Everyone deserves access to knowledge that improves their financial wellbeing.

Our Teaching Approach

Traditional financial education often fails because it treats money as purely mathematical. Numbers matter, but so do habits, emotions, and practical constraints.

Our curriculum acknowledges that people learn differently. Visual learners get charts and diagrams. Those who prefer structure receive frameworks and checklists. Discussion-oriented participants benefit from group exercises and case studies.

Class sizes never exceed twelve students, ensuring everyone receives individual attention. Instructors remember your name, understand your goals, and adapt examples to your situation.
